Report reveals house prices at 2006 peak

A new report has shown that the price of houses for sale in the UK
have reached the value they were at the peak of summer 2006.
According to June data from the Land Registry's House Price Index,
the average cost of properties increased by 8.4 per cent since the
previous June.
It also showed that between May 2010 and June 2010, prices rose by
0.1 per cent, bringing the national average to £166,072.
The Land Registry confirmed that this figure is similar to the
average value of properties four years ago.
Other details of the report revealed that the average price of a
house for sale in London has increased by 12.2 per cent -
signifying the area with largest change over the last 12
months.
The place with the smallest differentiation was found to be the
north-east, which saw prices rise by just 0.7 per cent.
These results, which were released today (July 28th), came after
Hometrack revealed its findings which showed that house prices have
fallen in July.
