First-time buyers 'will always struggle to get on the property
ladder'

First-time buyers may be interested to hear the opinion of one
industry commentator who discussed the housing market
recently.
Malcolm Harrison, an independent property specialist, stated that
no matter what the current industry is like, it will always be
difficult to take the first step on to the ladder.
He said that this has been the situation "ever since the war" and
the first property purchase a person makes is always going to be a
"pretty major step forward".
Although many people think first-time buyers are struggling at the
moment, "it's no different from their father's generation or their
grandfather's generation," Mr Harrison added.
He does not expect to see any major changes to house prices in the
immediate future.
At the end of last month, Hometrack reported that the average
property price stood at £155,600 in June – the same as
the figure recorded for April and May.
